Crystal 2012/M is a modifying flux, in granular form, suitable for metallurgical treatment (sodium based) of hypoeutectic and eutectic Al-Si alloys (Si 6-13%) in crucible furnaces or ladles. Crystal 2012/M allows to obtain a modified fibrous structure of eutectic silicon which improves mechanical properties of castings (tensile strength, hardness, ductility), using a reduced quantity of product. The atomic sodium introduced in the alloy by Crystal 2012/M is very effective in slowing down the nucleation and growth of silicon crystals, which tend to form needle-like structures that have a negative influence on the properties of the alloys. Crystal 2012/M produces a pasty dross which can be easily removed with Crystal 2000 (drossing off version).

25 kg paper bag laminated with polythene, moisture resistant, heat sealed at the base.

Warnings

The product is hygroscopic. Store in a dry storage and away from heat sources. Close the package after each use. If stored properly the product has a shelf life exceeding 12 months.
